Michael Southam

Advanced Astrophotography Workflow Tutorial

This event will be IN PERSON in the WAS Classroom.

Are you an astrophotographer looking for tips on taking your images to the next level? Are you a smart scope user who wants to learn how to process images manually? If so, this tutorial is for you. Veteran WAS astrophotographer Michael Southam will be guiding you through the workflow he has refined for over 15 years. From image planning to data acquisition, subframe selection, stacking and processing, he’ll be going through it all in detail. The tutorial will focus on using Stellarium, Astrophotography Tool, PixInsight and PhotoShop on nebula images but whatever your goto program and target, there will be something in the tutorial for you.

The tutorial will be as hands on and interactive as possible. Attendees can bring their laptop, follow along and ask questions as we go. Michael will have the associated programs open and demonstrate as much in real time as possible.

Michael’s journey into the world of astrophotography began at a WAS public night over 15 years ago. Holding his phone camera to the eyepiece of the club’s 25″ dobsonian, he snapped a very blurry photo of the moon and was hooked on astrophotography from that moment.

This is a class for our member’s and if you’d like to attend become a member today!
