Occultations

Members of the Westport Astronomical Society contribute study the orbits, size, and shapes of asteroids, comets, and other deep space objects using carefully timed recordings of the objects as they pass in front of stars.

Seismometer

The Westport Astronomical Society is also home to another type of observatory, one that measures the movements of the ground beneath our feet, helping map and study the intensity of earthquakes all over the world.
