Dr. Kevin Green – Asteroid Occultations at WAS: An Update

Dr. Kevin Green, Physics Department, University of New Haven and WAS Board Member

THE CLASSROOM WILL BE OPEN FOR THIS EVENT

Join us LIVE in the WAS Classroom for this talk from our own WAS Board Member, Dr. Kevin Green. This talk WILL be live-streamed on YouTube and as a webinar on Zoom, but we hope you’ll join us in the classroom at the Westport Observatory. As always, the talk will be posted to the Westport Astronomical Society’s YouTube channel afterwards.

Kevin will discuss the ongoing work of observing asteroids at WAS and surrounding telescopes. The talk includes short presentations from his team of young and talented observers.

Dr. Green received his Ph.D. from the University of Utah with a dissertation on the highest known energy cosmic rays. After positions at The University of Michigan and The University of Chicago, he transitioned from academia to the energy sector and worked in that field for 15 years. He’s since come back to the Academy and is spearheading observations of asteroid occultations at the Westport Astronomical Society and the University of New Haven along with others.
