Strang Scout Reservation\nGoshen, CT\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin WAS with our friends from the Astronomical Society of New Haven as they host a weekend gathering of amateur astronomers with the purpose of observing the sky\n\n\n\n\n \nOnline Registration will end on September 4, 2024\n\nGate Registration from Friday afternoon September 6th to Saturday evening September 7th\n\n\n\nOur friends at the Astronomical Society of New Haven opened online registration for Connecticut’s premier star party CSP34 in one of the darkest locations in the state! This will be another great year at the beautiful Edmund D. Strang Scout Reservation in Goshen, CT.\nThis is ASNH’s big fundraiser for the year and we love to support our friends – especially when it means we can take out the telescopes in a dark location! Drive up for the night or take advantage of camping right next to your telescopes. Men’s and women’s bunkrooms are available. Bring your own food or take advantage of the Meal Plan, catered by Little Oak Cafe in Canton. And let’s not forget that The WAS AWAY Team always cleans up in the yearly raffle!Camp Strang offers three different observing locations to choose from, all with beautiful, dark skies. Each field has its own character, and it’s up to you to choose where you want to set up.\n“Brownsea Field” has a good-sized flat area to set up on near the showers and plenty of room around the field to pitch a tent.\n“Dining Hall Field” does not have power available and is located between the Dining Hall and the “Training Facility” bunkhouse near the main entrance.\n“Camporee Field” is the largest of all the fields. It is also the highest elevation and has the best all-around views of the horizon in all directions. Camporee is also the most remote and “rustic” of the three, outdoor latrines are available on the Camporee field. This is where you’ll find most of the WAS Away Team.\n\nJoin the WAS Away Team and take in the cool and beautiful skies of Northwest CT!\n\n
